This triptych portrait of President John F. Kennedy is created upon an original section of the genoa of the historic Sparkman & Stephens yawl Manitou - the very sail carried aboard during the summer of 1962, when Kennedy famously cruised the waters off Cape Cod with Marilyn Monroe. More than a portrait, the work is a rare convergence of political history, maritime heritage and American cultural mythology.
 
Mounted across the sail are 1,000 Swarovski crystals, meticulously arranged to form the Star of the United States. Their brilliance celebrates America’s 250th Anniversary, transforming the weathered canvas into a symbol of endurance, aspiration and national identity.
 
The original sailcloth bears the marks of wind, salt and time, preserving the physical memory of one of America’s most celebrated presidential yachts.
